IDF says Gaza money exchanger killed in strike financed Hamas’s military wing

The IDF said on September 28 that it had killed Shadi Abu Hasira, a Gaza money exchanger it identified as a central figure in financing Hamas’s military wing. The military said the strike took place in the Gaza City area the previous day.

The IDF's account of the network

According to the IDF, Abu Hasira headed the Geneva exchange network, which transferred tens of millions of shekels in foreign currency to Hamas’s military wing. The military said the funds paid operatives, supported rebuilding of military infrastructure and helped advance attacks against Israeli troops. These are the IDF’s allegations; public transaction records were not supplied with the account.

Separate reporting on the death

EFE separately reported his death, citing Al Shifa Hospital sources, without corroborating the financing allegations.

A second business named

The IDF additionally named a business rendered in English as Gardena Professional, alleging that its commercial activities facilitated money transfers. The precise registered names of the company and exchange network have not been established in the material reviewed.

The military presented the strike as part of its effort to disrupt Hamas’s ability to restore its armed capabilities. The specific amounts, recipients and transactions underlying its assessment remain undisclosed. Keeping those financial allegations attributed makes clear what the announcement establishes and what has not been independently documented.
