IDF: Israeli Civilian Neutralized Knife Carrying Attacker Near Ramun; Troops Launched Manhunt

An Israeli civilian neutralized a knife carrying attacker near the village of Ramun in the Binyamin regional brigade’s sector, the Israel Defense Forces said on Monday, October 5. The military said substantial forces had been dispatched, were surrounding the nearby area and were pursuing a second attacker.

Troops were called out after a report of a vehicle being set on fire and two attackers in the area, one carrying a knife. The statement did not specify the condition of the man the civilian stopped or how the civilian intervened.

Vehicle arson report prompted deployment

The IDF’s account described a report covering both the vehicle fire and the presence of two attackers. It did not identify the vehicle’s owner or set out each man’s alleged role in the arson. The civilian was not named.

The military located the incident near Ramun, within its Binyamin sector in the West Bank. It described a significant deployment but did not provide troop numbers or identify the units sent to the area.

Search was under way when the statement was issued

At the time of the military’s announcement, troops were still searching for the second attacker. The statement contained no announcement of his capture and did not establish that the pursuit had ended.

What the statement does not say

The term “neutralized” does not, by itself, mean the knife carrying attacker was killed. The initial statement provided neither a medical assessment nor a casualty tally, and it did not describe a completed stabbing. Its silence on injuries should not be read as confirmation that nobody was hurt.
