Protecting Data While It Is Being Processed
The company focuses on a practical question for organizations handling sensitive information: how to use another provider's computers without also giving that provider access to the contents or encryption keys. Modelyo's product description says its protection covers data in storage, in transit and while a computing system processes it.
That final stage is central to the proposition. Keeping a file encrypted is different from protecting the environment in which software uses its contents. Modelyo describes an architecture that isolates that environment through hardware and cryptographic controls, with the organization retaining control of its keys.
According to the company, neither the infrastructure operator nor Modelyo should be able to access information inside the protected environment. These are the supplier's descriptions of its product. The funding is the new business development; it does not itself constitute independent certification of security performance.
A Layer Above the Existing Cloud
Modelyo explains on its website that it does not replace the customer's cloud provider. It offers a confidential layer that can operate on different providers' infrastructure and on local systems. The customer's infrastructure relationship and billing remain in place, while Modelyo supplies the additional protected environment.
Its technical description brings storage, databases, development tools and artificial intelligence applications into the same framework. The stated aim is for those services to inherit common protections, rather than requiring separate security arrangements for each one.
The company also says keys remain in a system controlled by the customer and that access is tied to a verified computing environment. In practical terms, its proposition is to let an organization examine where and how information is processed, alongside deciding who may use it.
Funding Development and International Growth
CTech reported that Modelyo was founded in 2024, employs 30 people and had operated with financing from its founders before the round. The new money is intended for research and development and expansion of commercial activity outside Israel. The report did not disclose a valuation.
Israel Hayom reported that the next phase includes expanding encrypted managed services, improving support for AI systems and autonomous agents, broadening compatibility with graphics processor infrastructure and simplifying use of the platform. These are work priorities the company presented with its funding announcement.
Benny Meir, cofounder and chief executive, explained that the aim is to let organizations benefit from cloud resources and AI while retaining control over information and intellectual property. The company's stated target customers include banks, government and defense bodies, healthcare organizations and critical infrastructure operators.
A Connection to the Wider Technical Community
Further background comes from the Confidential Computing Consortium, which announced Modelyo's admission as a startup member on February 13. The consortium described its use of OpenStack and Intel SGX and TDX technologies to protect sensitive computing workloads at the hardware level.
That announcement said Modelyo brought experience in protected environments and attestation workflows, and wanted to collaborate on interoperability and standards. Membership provides a framework for technical cooperation; it should not be read as certification of every service the company offers.
The October funding adds resources to that program. Modelyo's stated objective is now to increase the range of workloads and services that can run within a confidential environment, preserve customer control and make operation simpler for the teams using it.
